In the Master's Level section of the Integrated Course at the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, emphasis is placed on turning out researchers and technicians equipped with comprehensive and interdisciplinary skills, in addition to the solid foundation they have already obtained from their undergraduate training. Our rich educational structure, consisting of the fundamental doctoral-level subjects, is ideal for training students to become highly creative top researchers.

Features of our Curriculum

Each section of the Master's Level section of the Integrated Course aims to give students wide-ranging general knowledge in addition to highly specialized knowledge, while promoting a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive viewpoint.

1. Students may take a wide variety of courses for a certain number of credits in fields other than their major, which are related to their research.
2. We offer a Management of Technology Course, which enables students to apply the high-level science and technology skills they have obtained at university in corporations and industry.
3. To promote expertise in science and technology, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology established an internship program in 2005. Since then, students have been placed in companies to acquire practical skills.
   

Conditions for Completion

In order to complete the Master's level section of the Integrated Course, a student must be enrolled for two years or more, obtain thirty or more subject credits, receive research advice, and pass the final thesis examination. However, in cases of exceptional merit, the period of enrollment may be shortened to a minimum of one year.

The Degree

Students who complete the Master's level section of the Integrated Course in their major will be awarded the degree of Master of Science, Engineering, or Philosophy.

Extended Enrollment System

If it is difficult for a student to complete the course within the specified period because of his or her employment situation, or for some other reason, the enrollment period can be extended for systematic study. If extension of the enrollment period is approved, payment of the two-year tuition fees can be spread evenly over each semester of the period of the extension (four years maximum).
