Master’s Course (2022.4〜)Division of Geosciences and Civil Engineering

Admission Policy (Master’s Programs)

For the conservation of the biosphere, formation of the regional environment and the development of social infrastructure in the 21st century, the ability to think flexibly from both science and engineering perspectives is required, based on the Earth (the basis of our human survival), society (the basis of our daily lives) and the environment surrounding them. We train researchers, engineers, and educators with a wide range of basic knowledge and specialized expertise related to earth and planetary science / environmental science, environmental engineering, civil engineering, disaster prevention engineering, and urban engineering, based on clear ethics and logical thinking, who can lead various aspects of societies from regional to global. We welcome students who are scientifically inquisitive and want to deepen their expertise in these fields and play an active role in society.

Basic Policy for Selection

Evaluation will be made as to applicants' abilities and qualities regarding knowledge required for a wide range of aspects, including English and mathematics, exploration of earth and planetary science, formation of the local environment and infrastructure development. Evaluation is conducted using an external English test, written exam, oral exam, and academic transcript.

Desirable Abilities for Admission

Skills in English and mathematics, which form the basis of course education, and also geology, paleontology, petrology, mineralogy, crystallization, global environmental science, geochronology and geophysics, or structural mechanics, hydraulics, soil mechanics, planning theory, and environmental engineering are required.
