Admission Policy (Master’s Programs)

 In the formation of the local environment and the development of social infrastructure in the 21st century, an environmental design perspective aiming for harmonious development that integrates consideration of creation of a safe and secure living infrastructure and consideration for the environment and ecosystem at a high level is required. We are looking for motivated students who have a strong interest in interdisciplinary fields such as environmental science and humanities / social science, have basic specialized knowledge, and who aim to create social infrastructure that is friendly to people and nature, with a focus on science and technology related to social infrastructure development at home and abroad, based on clear ethics and logical thinking.

Basic Policy for Selection

 Comprehensive evaluation will be conducted for abilities and qualities regarding required knowledge in a wide range of aspects of English, mathematics and environmental design, using academic ability tests (written and oral examinations) and academic transcripts.
Desirable Abilities Leading to Admission
It is necessary to possess abilities in English and mathematics (the basis of specialized fields), and basic and applied knowledge of specialized subjects such as structural mechanics, hydraulics, soil mechanics, planning theory, and environmental engineering.

Curriculum Policy (Master’s Programs)

 The Division places emphasis on the cultivation of students’ inquiring minds, willingness to continue life-long study, and the ability to identify and solve issues, as well as their acquisition of essential knowledge underlying their respective fields of specialization and in-depth insight. Students are also encouraged to expand their domains of inquiry to include humanities and social sciences in addition to natural sciences, in connection with social infrastructure, global and regional environments and urban design, as well as to interact with other universities, research institutions, and the private sector through scientific society activities, joint research, internships, and other opportunities to deepen their interdisciplinary knowledge.

Diploma Policy (Master’s Programs)

 The Division aims to systematically produce creative researchers and engineers who, in this “century of the environment,” aspire to create social and environmental infrastructure in harmony with nature; who have extensive expertise and interdisciplinary skills in various aspects of environmental design ranging from investigation, research, planning, design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure, including waste treatment and recycling; and who are capable of playing an active part in the development of a safe, anxiety-free, sustainable society.
