Division of Material Chemistry

The Division of Material Chemistry is a division that integrates all of the university’s fields of study related to chemistry. We provide students with a wide range of basic knowledge and research methods for working in fields that require chemical expertise, as well as the skills in self-expression, communication and problem resolution required to play an important role in the business world.

This division offers two courses: Chemistry Course and Applied Chemistry Course. In the Chemistry Course, the structure, property and reaction of materials are clarified on an atomic and molecular level to understand the fundamental principles inherent in the dynamics of versatile materials and life phenomena in the natural world. In addition, new catalytic substances having highly selective reaction and new functional materials are developed based on theory and biological information. In the Applied Chemistry Course, we teach students to understand and solve energy and environmental problems from the viewpoint of chemistry; the curriculum includes development of functions, separation and analysis of materials. We also analyze the structure of materials and functions of collective materials to develop highly functional materials and improve their reaction efficiencies.
