Flow of screening and entrance examination for research students and regular students
Prospective Academic Advisor
Please select a prospective academic advisor after referring to the information on our website.
Classification of Students and Degrees
- Research students
Research students will study specific subjects. The research period is six months or one year in principle. Completing the research period does not enable a student to get a degree.
- Regular students
Regular students will get the doctoral degree provided that they are enrolled in the graduate school for three years or longer, get the specified number of credits in the selected course and pass the examination of the doctoral thesis. The name of the degree is Doctor of Philosophy, Philosophy in Science or Engineering.
It is difficult for international students to enter as a regular student because we do not screen applicants for approval of their application before they leave their country, and there is not enough time to get a visa after the application results have been announced. In order to prepare for studying at the graduate school, we recommend that international students come to Japan as a research student, and apply for the school as a regular student after completion of the research period.
